Founded in 1977, LAW OFFICES LEE & KO is one of the largest and most prominent law firms in Korea. Currently comprising over 50 lawyers and patent attorneys, the firm has grown to include a number of partners, all of whom are distinguished in their respective areas of expertise. Many of the partners and associates are also members of state bar associations in the United States, and have studied law and served as foreign associates with leading international law firms in the U. S. A and Europe.

In order to maximize resources and provide the most efficient and accurate advice, LEE & KO's structure consists of various departments, each of which emphasizes one or more areas of practice: corporate, banking, finance and securities, maritime, insurance, aviation, intellectual property and litigation and arbitration.

Through its corporate department, LEE & KO represents many foreign investors. The firm is extremely well-versed in preparing and negotiating agreements and in counseling clients in the widest range of issues related to foreign investment, joint ventures, technology licensing, including franchising and distribution, mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcy, reorganization, antitrust, unfair competition, anti-dumping and trade issues, commercial arbitration, labor, tax and environmental issues.

Through its banking, finance and securities department, LEE & KO covers a broad spectrum of practice. The securities practice includes assessing all phases of Korean and international capital markets on behalf of issuers, underwriters, investment banks and institutional lenders. The firm has extensive experience in project finance. In addition, the firm is distinguished in asset backed lease finance, with extensive experience in aircraft leasing transactions, and in representing foreign and domestic banks and shipbuilding companies.

Through its maritime, insurance and aviation department LEE & KO provides a complete range of maritime legal services, including the negotiation and litigation of all types of maritime claims, such as collision, oil pollution and trade disputes. The firm has also been active in almost all of the significant aviation litigation cases in Korea for more than a decade. Furthermore, the firm is thoroughly experienced in rendering legal advice in conjunction with insurance-related matters, including marine and aviation insurance.

Through its intellectual property department, LEE & KO provides a wide range of services, including, but not limited to, the filing and prosecution of patents, trademarks, designs, utility models and official proceedings vis-a-vis the Korean Intellectual Property Office. LEE & KO also has substantial experience in actions relating to unfair competition and infringement of intellectual property rights, including trademarks, copyrights and patents.

Through its arbitration and litigation department, LEE & KO represents foreign and local clients in international and domestic arbitration matters. The firm's arbitration practice also includes the enforcement of foreign arbitral awards in Korean courts. LEE & KO is renowned for its litigation practice, which includes prosecuting or defending civil litigation involving trade creditor claims, bankruptcy, insurance, maritime and aviation loss claims.
